![]() On PlayStation 5, developer Eko Software have made some specific enhancements for Sony’s new console. As a dungeon crawler, you haven’t exactly got your nose pressed to the screen, the wider perspective obscuring the finer details found in environments and character models. So it's not quite the Diablo-style game we had hoped for, but it scratched that itch for now.The game’s visual fidelity has also been dialled up though it’s not immediately noticeable. The extra game modes such as the invasion map, tower of chaos, etc help pad out the time too, but again are poorly explained and limited. Fortunately the length of the game is extended through the DLC, but not by much, perhaps a few hours. The god skills tree map had to be learned through trial and error, and it was initially puzzling why one suddenly stopped earning new points to put on that skill tree while it was still 80% incomplete. ![]() There was no real explanation of the invasion map corrosion effects and why you constantly lose life in those levels. I was five hours in before I realized that the right-hand half of the circle of skills on the second page of information were for passive skills that were listed separately, and not just a continuation of a circle of active skills. And the game does a very, very poor job of explaining its own features so you are constantly guessing at what it is you are tweaking and how it works. The game is a bit short and can be completed in under 10 hours even if you methodically explore every nook of each level. That said, the level design gets very repetitive very quickly. ![]() The mechanics and power-ups are pretty good so it plays smoothly. It offers couch co-op, a key feature for my wife and I. Review:As far as Diablo-style games go this one isn't too bad. Date:Reviewed in the United States on March 24, 2021 ![]()
